Welcome Bonus Terms and Conditions
1. Promotion Overview
The Spendsafe Onboarding Bonus (the “Promotion”) provides eligible users with a promotional bonus for completing the Spendsafe account onboarding process and adding at least one child account within the Spendsafe mobile application.
The Promotion is offered by Spendsafe Inc. (“Spendsafe”).
Participation in the Promotion constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and the Spendsafe Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
2. Promotion Period
The Promotion begins on the official launch date of the Spendsafe application and will continue until terminated by Spendsafe (the “Promotion Period”).
Spendsafe reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Promotion at any time without prior notice.
Onboarding bonuses will only be issued while the Promotion is active. If the Promotion has ended or been terminated, no onboarding bonus will be issued, including where qualification requirements are completed after that date.
3. Eligibility
To be eligible for the Promotion, participants must:
- Be a resident of Canada, excluding the Province of Quebec
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Successfully create a Spendsafe parent account
- Complete any required identity verification or compliance checks
- Add at least one child account aged 6–17 within the Spendsafe mobile application
The Spendsafe card is not available to residents in the Province of Quebec.
The Promotion is available to new Spendsafe customers only. Participants who have previously held or currently hold a Spendsafe parent account are not eligible.
Employees, contractors, and agents of Spendsafe Inc., its affiliates, and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate. For the purposes of these Terms, “immediate family members” means a spouse, common-law partner, parent, child, or sibling, and any person domiciled in the same household.
Spendsafe reserves the right to verify eligibility.
4. Qualification Requirements
To qualify for the onboarding bonus, an eligible participant must complete the following during the Promotion Period:
- Download the Spendsafe mobile application
- Successfully create a Spendsafe parent account
- Complete the required account onboarding process, including identity verification and any applicable compliance checks
- Add at least one child account aged 6–17
- Deposit a minimum of $20 CAD into one or more eligible child accounts
- The child account holder must complete cumulative purchases totaling at least $20 CAD using their Spendsafe card.
Once these steps are completed and verified, the onboarding bonus will be credited to the eligible parent account, subject to the delivery timing set out in Section 5.
Limit: One onboarding bonus per person. The bonus is limited to one per verified identity, regardless of the number of Spendsafe parent accounts created.
5. Bonus Amount and Delivery
The onboarding bonus ($20) will be credited only to the parent’s Spendsafe parent account once qualification requirements are verified.
Delivery of the bonus may take up to 5 business days.
The bonus is restricted and unavailable for use until all qualification requirements have been met and verified. The bonus is non-transferable and may not be substituted except at Spendsafe’s discretion.
6. Parent Responsibility and Child Accounts
Spendsafe child accounts are sub-accounts of the parent account, managed by the parent or legal guardian who holds the primary Spendsafe account.
By adding a child account, the parent or legal guardian confirms that they are the legal parent or guardian of the child.
The parent or legal guardian retains full control and responsibility for the child account and all activity conducted through it.
Spendsafe does not enter into a contractual relationship with the minor. All services are provided to the parent or legal guardian as the primary account holder.
7. Promotion Abuse and Fraud Prevention
Spendsafe reserves the right to withhold, cancel, or reverse any onboarding bonus if it determines that the Promotion has been abused, manipulated, or used in violation of these Terms.
Creating multiple accounts, child accounts, or identities for the purpose of obtaining additional bonuses may result in disqualification from the Promotion.
Accounts suspected of abuse may be restricted, suspended, or terminated at Spendsafe’s discretion.
8. Compliance and Verification
Spendsafe may require additional identity verification, account validation, or regulatory checks before issuing any promotional reward.
Failure to complete required verification may result in disqualification from the Promotion.
9. Privacy
All personal information collected during participation in the Promotion will be handled in accordance with the Spendsafe Privacy Policy.
Information may be used for identity verification, fraud prevention, regulatory compliance, and promotion administration.
10. Account Standing
To receive and retain the onboarding bonus, the Spendsafe parent account must remain open and in good standing at the time the bonus is issued.
Spendsafe reserves the right to withhold or reverse the bonus if the account is closed, restricted, or found to be in violation of Spendsafe’s terms or policies.
11. Limitation of Liability
Spendsafe is not responsible for technical failures, service interruptions, or delays caused by third-party service providers that may affect participation in the Promotion.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Spendsafe’s liability related to the Promotion is limited to the value of the promotional bonus.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any right a participant may have under applicable consumer protection legislation.
12. Changes to the Promotion
Spendsafe reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions or terminate the Promotion at any time without prior notice.
Updated terms may be published within the Spendsafe application or website.
13. Governing Law
These Terms governed by Ontario law and applicable Canadian federal law, including Regulations under the Criminal Code.
